Little Liza Jane’s Has New Owner
And Big Changes are In Store
Little Liza Jane’s, a charming children’s boutique in the heart of Montgomery’s Heritage District, was recently purchased by Kelly Lambert, a 27-year-old Cincinnati native with a passion for fashion. Lambert is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of UC’s Fashion Design program. She has designed for well-known children’s wear companies Limited Too and Aeropostale. For the past 6 years, Kelly was a Buyer and Manager for an exclusive women’s boutique in Cincinnati. The experience made her truly appreciate quality and detailing in garments. “Quality in clothing is imperative – when you are buying designer clothing, it needs to show.“
Big changes are in store for Little Liza Jane’s. Already, Kelly has re-vamped the store with her merchandising talents to create a fabulous boutique atmosphere. The store will continue to carry tried-and-true brands Kissy Kissy, Baby Lulu, Sweet Potatoes, and Pedipeds. New, more exclusive lines will be Lambert’s focus. In fact she has just added Joe’s Designer Jeans for girls who want to be just like Mommy, Lelli Kelly hand embellished shoes, and Dutch brand Room Seven.
“My mission is to find lines that you can’t get anywhere else in the city. I have discovered a few Brazilian lines that are extremely unique.” European lines are another focus for the new direction of Little Liza Jane’s. This Spring LLJ will introduce ready-to-wear by the French company Petit Bateau. Brazilian designers to be added this Spring include Havaiana Flip Flops, Floret Heirloom Dolls and Bb moderno hand-painted dresses.
Kelly is also a supporter of local designers. “Cincinnati is a great city with a lot of local talent. I am thrilled to have this representation in my store.” Local designers featured at LLJ’s include Dimples baby booties, Fancy Pants key chains, Crystal France bows and pacifiers, and Specialty Cards 4U. Lambert plans to introduce Alternative Motive graphic tees for kids this Spring.
Like many others these days, the awareness of social and environmental issues is important to Kelly. She is finding and supporting companies that “give-back” and / or use organic and recycled materials. Vive for Babies is a brand new layette collection that Kelly discovered on a buying trip in New York City. Little Liza Jane’s is pleased to be one of the very first specialty boutiques to carry the collection. Vive for Babies garments are made of certified organic cotton and manufactured by the women of Peru. In addition, the owner of Vive for Babies uses his factory in Peru to feed lunch to different orphanages everyday!
One of Kelly’s biggest thrills so far was having Natalie Portman in the store. The 27-year-old actress was in Cincinnati visiting family a few weeks ago and needed baby gifts before
jetting to Paris. Portman was informed that Little Liza Jane’s was the place to go to for children’s clothes in Cincinnati. “I was truly honored to have her in the store; she picked out the cutest things in the store, we gift-wrapped all of them for her, and she was on her way in 20 minutes.”
Coming to Little Liza Jane’s is a unique shopping experience. Water and little treats are always provided, as well as toys to keep the kids entertained. There is a “Tokens of Affection” box for kids to pick a prize if they listen to Mommy and Daddy. With a small boutique, you develop personal relationships with the customers. “We know many clients by name, and take a genuine interest in their lives. We are lucky to have the absolute best customers around.” Superior customer service is the heart of LLJ. Free gift wrap is available as well as diapers and baby wipes. And best of all, you are buying merchandise that is not too common. “Customers tell me when they give a gift from Little Liza Jane’s, you can tell it came from a boutique and not the mall.”
Little Liza Jane’s will continue the popular Semi-Annual Pink & Green Sale in January and July. “This is a trademark for Little Liza Jane’s; of course I will continue with the event.” Future plans for LLJ include a full service website, children’s Trunk Shows, contests, in-store charity events, and featured “items of the week.”
Little Liza Jane’s carries newborn through Girls’ size 10 and Boys’ size 7. The store is open Monday through Saturday 10am to 6pm, or by appointment.
